Irondog and beyond...The video The video, Irondog and beyond with Dave Deleissegues, is approximately 2 hours long and has five sections.
1) The first section gives a history of the Bulldog and Molossus and chronicles their use as war dogs.
2) The second section is a 27-minute lesson by Dave Deleissegues that covers all the obedience exercises found in the BST. In this section Dave D. does more than just go through the specific routines needed to pass the BST, he also gives his philosophy on training Bulldogs in general.
3) The next section is even longer, here Dave D. is training several of the country’s top ABs in protection. He starts with beginner dogs and works his way up to advanced dogs. While the emphasis is on passing the BST and setting the foundation for advanced sport work, again Dave D. provides the groundwork for training Bulldogs in many different aspects of protection work. Special attention is paid to the difference between prey and defense. This section is designed to benefit both handlers and decoys, especially decoys that have little experience with Bulldogs.
4) In the fourth section Dave Putnam gives you everything you need to know to train for the six Irondog events. Many of the techniques involved in Irondog training relate directly to the sport work that Dave D. has provided earlier. After studying this section you will be prepared to train for both the Pentathlon and the Triathlon.
5) The final section involves Dave Deleissegues giving instruction on passing the BST II, which involves off leash obedience and advanced sport protection work.
